Three Benefits of Using a Home Water Distiller

Some creatures have fins. Some have wings. Some, such as humankind, have opposable thumbs. There are millions of different species on this fine planet, but there is one thing that we all have in common: We need water to survive. Actually, the presence of water is one of the key indicators scientists use to determine if a planet could have life or not. Water is the cradle of life.

However, water is also a highway for which harmful chemicals, disease, bacteria, and toxins can get a free ride. Many very harmful illnesses reach humans via the water that we depend on to live and function. This is why many health conscious people look to home water distillers to purify the water that runs through their home.

A home water distiller removes any contaminates from the water you drink, even the ones that can survive boiling temperatures. This is because a home water distiller works by boiling the water until it evaporates into steam. The steam is then collected and turned back into a liquid form. Since only the h2o molecules converted to steam, the liquid result is just the pure, uncontaminated water.

Why is the multi-step process of a home water distiller superior to other whole home water purification systems? Excellent question. Keep reading for the answer.

Three Benefits of Distilled Water

  1. Distilling water is the closest water purification process to Mother Earth’s natural process.

Many large-scale water purification processes utilize strong chemicals (such as chlorine) to kill off any dangerous bacteria. While it is effective at doing that, the chemicals introduce new risks and health implications. If you poured a glass of water from your tap and then ran a chemical test on it, you might be horrified to find out the chemicals (read: poisons) that you are purposely ingesting.

Meanwhile, water distillation cleanses the water in the way the planet does by itself. The planet cleans contaminated water by filtering it through the earth, into lakes and rivers. From there, the sun evaporates the water molecules, until they are absorbed into clouds, where they rain down on us, in their cleanest form. This process is a grander scale of the process that water distillation basically follows. Instead of the earth, contaminates are removed through boiling the water. Then, just as the sun causes the water to evaporate into the clouds, the steam produced by evaporated water is collected where it “rains” back down in its pure form.
  2. Distilled water does not carry the health risks that other purified water heightens your risk for.
Because other water purification systems introduce new factors to counterbalance the harmful contaminants in your water, it opens you up to the risk of other dangers. Some harmful effects of drinking otherwise purified water include nitrate poisoning, and the negative impact of drinking mineral-heavy water, such as cardiovascular failure and high blood pressure. Many municipal water systems involve adding fluoride and chlorine to the water, both are known carcinogens that cause cancer in high doses.

Other water purification processes aren’t robust enough to purify metals such as copper from the water, creating a heightened risk for health implications like Alzheimer’s disease.

Since distilled water is water in its purest form, these risks are not present when you have a home water distiller.
  3. Distilled water is –truly– untouched by man.

One of those major purified water companies claims that their water is untouched by man. We aren’t here to throw shade, so we aren’t going to refute or support that claim. The truth is, we don’t know. It could be that their water is untouched by man because it is distilled. Because, distilled water is untouched by man.

Rather than loading up the water with all sorts of chemicals and minerals to make it less bad, the distilling process involves removing the footprint that is left by man. When the water is boiled, it kills off the bacteria, viruses, and invisible microbes that naturally exist in the water. Then, when it is collect in the form of steam, only the two hydrogen molecules and one oxygen molecule that makes up water in its purest form makes makes it into the final product, leaving behind anything that can survive being boiled. This is water that is truly untouched by anything.
